Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026. Applies to Named for iPhone and the Named web game.

Named is a daily name-guessing game. It is built to need as little of your data as possible.

No account

Named has no sign-up and no login. We never ask for your name, email address, contacts, location or photos.

Your games and stats stay on your device

Your guesses, streaks, statistics and settings are saved only on your iPhone (or in your browser’s storage on the web). They are not uploaded. Deleting the app, or clearing the site’s data, removes them.

Purchases (iPhone)

Named+ is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID details. We use RevenueCat to check whether Named+ is unlocked. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID created on your device together with your App Store purchase receipts, so it can confirm and restore your purchase. It is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising.

The friends board (optional)

If you join a friends board, the game sends that board’s invite code, the nickname you choose, a random player ID created on your device, and your guesses for the official daily puzzle. The server checks the guesses to work out your score and stores only your nickname and score for that board and day. Entries are deleted automatically after 90 days. Invite codes are unlisted, not private accounts: anyone with a code can see that board’s nicknames and scores, so don’t use your full name.

Reminders (iPhone)

If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled on your iPhone by iOS. Nothing about it is sent to us.

No tracking, no ads

Named shows no ads, does not track you across apps or websites, does not use analytics SDKs and does not sell or share data with data brokers.

Name facts

The name facts come from the U.S. Social Security Administration’s public national baby-name files, bundled with the game. Looking them up happens on your device.

Children

Named is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
